🔺 Topped The Tigers. No. 8 Penn State women’s soccer handed Princeton its first loss of the season on Thursday, a 1-0 win for the Nittany Lions in New Jersey.

The match remained tied until late, when Olivia Borgen connected on a powerful strike in the 78th minute to give Penn State the win.

The Nittany Lions are back out on the pitch this Sunday, traveling to Georgetown.

🔺 Bluegrass Weekend. No. 7 Penn State women’s volleyball travels to Lexington, Ky. this weekend for a pair of matches against host Kentucky and Ball State.

The matchup against the Wildcats will be yet another top-10 contest for the Nittany Lions, with No. 9 Kentucky sitting at 3-1 so far this season. Ball State is 2-1 on the year with wins over Seton Hall and Bryant.

🔺 Double Dip. After opening up at home last weekend, No. 16 Penn State field hockey plays a pair of game on the road this weekend.

The Nittany Lions are in Philadelphia today for a 3 p.m. game against Saint Joseph’s, before traveling to Newark to play Delaware on Sunday at noon. The Hawks went 1-1 on opening weekend, while the Blue Hens are 0-1.

🔺 First Run. The Penn State men’s and women’s cross country programs will make their season debut today, running at the Dolan Duals in Lock Haven.

The women come into the fall ranked second in the Mid-Atlantic Region, and the men fifth.

🔺 On The Tee Box. Penn State men’s golf opens up its fall slate this weekend in Tennessee, playing in the Visit Knoxville Collegiate at Tennessee National Golf Club in Loudon, Tenn.

🔺 Welcome Home. Trustee emeritus Ira Lubert and his wife, Pam Estadt, have stepped forward with a $10 million commitment to name a new landmark space where thousands of University Park students will begin their Penn State experience each year. A key element of the Beaver Stadium Revitalization project, the Lubert Family Welcome Center will serve both as the entrance for fans on Penn State Football game days and as the first stop for prospective undergraduates and their families as they begin campus tours and participate in other programming, also funded by the naming gift, intended to engage future Penn Staters.
