Children hit key vaccine milestones at three stages: kindergarten, sixth grade, and 11th grade. At age 4 or 5, they receive vaccines for MMR, chickenpox, DTaP, and polio. Around age 11, a Tdap booster, meningococcal vaccine, and HPV vaccine are recommended. In 11th grade, a second meningococcal shot is required for school. For COVID-19, the latest booster, released in fall 2024, is advised for adults and can be considered for children ages 6 months to 17 years.
