Penn State's open practice on Saturday night was packed, and we didn’t think we could be more excited for kickoff against West Virginia (only 19 days!) but here we are!

🔺 Best Of The Best. Another day, another prestigious preseason honor for a pair of Nittany Lion football players!

Offensive lineman Olumuyiwa Fashanu and running back Nicholas Singleton were named to the Walter Camp Player of the Year watch list on Friday, given annually to the best player regardless of position in college football.

🔺 Alum In The Dugout. Penn State head baseball coach Mike Gambino has announced the hiring of Ryan Wheeler to his staff as the director of player development.

Wheeler, a Penn State alum, has spent the past nine seasons on staff at Saint Joseph’s, the past five as associate head coach.

🔺 Lion In The Pool. Penn State swimmer Cooper Morley had a strong showing at the 2023 Apollo Projects New Zealand Short Course Swimming Championships last week, recording multiple medal-earning performances.

Morley swam to silver in the 50 Backstroke and bronze in the 100 Backstroke.

🔺 Getting Their Degrees. Penn State has 26 student-athletes across 18 different programs on pace to graduate from the university this summer!

The 26 summer graduate candidates, combined with the 150 from the spring and fall semesters, would make 176 total Nittany Lion student-athletes with fresh degrees!
