Summer is in full swing, bringing long days, outdoor adventures, and plenty of sunshine. Whether you're enjoying pool time, family vacations, or weekend hikes, it's important to stay mindful of the risks that come with rising temperatures. Extreme heat remains the deadliest weather-related threat in the U.S., sending more than 67,500 people to the emergency room each year, according to the CDC. Thankfully, simple steps can help you stay safe and comfortable: wear light, breathable clothing; apply sunscreen and wear a hat; drink plenty of water; seek shade during peak heat; and keep food properly chilled during outdoor gatherings to avoid foodborne illness. With a little planning, you can make the most of the season while staying healthy and protected.
