🔺 Successful Series. The baseball team took two of three from Rutgers this weekend. They started the weekend with a 7-6 walk-off win on Friday night. It was a back-and-forth battle as Penn State had a 6-4 lead going into the ninth inning. Rutgers tied the game in the top half of the ninth, so it took a Grant Norris line drive to right center to bring home Kyle Hannon and walk-off the game. Bryce Molinaro blasted two solo home runs, plus Anthony Steele earned the win on the mound.

The Nittany Lions fell on Saturday, but bounced back to get an 11-10 win on Sunday. They had to dig deep to pick up the second walk-off win of the weekend. Penn State had to rally to find four runs in the bottom of the ninth inning, and they did. Joe Jaconski hit a single to score Michael DiMartini to win it.

🔺 Went To Battle. The No. 9/8 men’s lacrosse team fell to No. 7/6 Georgetown in the first round of the NCAA Tournament, 12-9. TJ Malone recorded his 100th career assist, becoming the fourth Nittany Lion in program history to break 100. He finished his Penn State career tied for third all-time in points at 252. The Nittany Lions finish the season with an 11-5 record.

🔺 Strive For Five. The track & field team brought home five medals on Sunday to complete a successful weekend at the Big Ten Outdoor Championships. Florence Caron won the women’s 5k and 10k in one weekend, one of the most difficult doubles in the sport. Teammate Sophia Toti earned silver in the 5k. Hayley Kitching took the women’s 800m title with a meet record 2:02.54 time. The women’s team finished fifth in the conference with 78 team points, the teams second-best total in the past six seasons.

🔺 Came Close. The No. 15 women’s lacrosse team lost in a tight first round NCAA Tournament game to No. 19 James Madison, 14-13. Gretchen Gilmore led Penn State with a career-high seven goals. Kelly MacKinney finished with six points from two goals and four assists. Kayla Abernathy had a career-high 14 draws. The defense scooped up 11 ground balls and forced five turnovers. The Nittany Lions finish the season 11-8 overall.
