🔺 Just Keep Winning. Penn State women’s basketball has another shot at extending its season today, as the Lady Lions take on Villanova at 2:30 p.m. in the semifinals of the WBIT at Hinkle Fieldhouse in Indianapolis.

The winner of today’s game will advance to Wednesday’s WBIT Championship against either Illinois or Washington State.

🔺 Whatever It Takes. It took 12 innings in Sunday’s rubber match between Penn State softball and Maryland, but a double from Liana Jones after a dozen innings gave the Lady Lions a 1-0 victory and another Big Ten series win.

On top of Jones’ heroics at the plate, Mady Volpe and Bridget Nemeth both threw six innings, allowing a combined two hits and striking out 11.

🔺 Tale Of Two Halves. No. 4 Penn State men’s lacrosse took an 8-4 lead into halftime against No. 12 Maryland on Sunday, but a 6-1 Terrapin edge in the fourth quarter helped to give the Terps a 13-11 win.

TJ Malone scored three goals and assisted on another to lead the Nittany Lions on offense, while Mac Costin and Luke Walstrum both scored twice.

🔺 The Streak Grows. No. 10 Penn State men’s volleyball’s perfect EIVA record grew this past weekend, taking down second-place Harvard twice to improve to 17-6 overall and 6-0 in conference play.

🔺 Gaining Steam. Penn State women’s tennis’ win streak grew to three matches this weekend, taking down a pair of ranked opponents in No. 73 Rutgers and No. 49 Maryland to move to 4-2 in Big Ten play.

🔺 Fought The Illini. Penn State baseball ran into a red-hot Illinois lineup this weekend, falling in all three games to the Illini in Urbana-Champaign over the weekend.

The Nittany Lions scored 24 runs over the three games, but the Illini bats did just a bit more damage.

🦁 ONE BIG THING

🔺 Records Are Meant To Be Broken. Penn State track and field did damage to its program records books over the weekend, with three falling in Florida!

Hayley Kitching ran a 2:01.17 in the women’s 800m to set the school record, shortly before Cheickna Traore clocked a 10.26 in the men’s 100m to set that record.

Earlier in the weekend, Traore tied the school record in the 200m dash with a time of 20.23, setting the Ivorian national record in the process.
