🔺 First Place. No. 4 Penn State women’s soccer took control of the Big Ten on Sunday in its 3-1 win at Michigan State.
Payton Linnehan scored the Nittany Lions’ first goal in just the sixth minute, and Penn State held the lead for the rest of the contest. Kaitlyn MacBean and Cori Dyke also scored for the new Big Ten leaders.
🔺 Top-15 Takedown. Penn State volleyball’s win streak now sits at six after big wins over Illinois and No. 13 Minnesota this weekend!
The Nittany Lions swept the Illini on Friday night. Alexa Markley was a star for Penn State with 11 kills, while hitting .375.
It was more of the same on Saturday, with Penn State taking down Minnesota 3-1. Taylor Trammell was the one to step up against the Gophers with a career-high 16 kills on .800 hitting.
🔺 Call It Even. Despite a 12-6 shot advantage, No. 25 Penn State men’s soccer played No. 13 Michigan State to a scoreless draw on Sunday.
On top of the 12-6 shot advantage, the Nittany Lions also led 5-0 in the shots-on-goal department.
🔺 Tough Terps. No. 16 Penn State field hockey dropped a tough road matchup at No. 8 Maryland, 4-2 on Sunday.
Maryland built up a 4-0 lead in the fourth quarter, but goals from Sophia Gladieux and Carly Gannon cut that deficit in half. Unfortunately, the rally stopped there.
🔺 Tough Weekend. It wasn’t the home opener Penn State women’s hockey wanted over the weekend, as the Nittany Lions dropped one and lost another to UConn at Pegula Ice Arena.
Game 1 was a 2-0 loss for the Nittany Lions, although the teams played into the third period locked at 0-0. Game Two ended in 1-1 in overtime, with Alyssa Machado providing the goal for Penn State.
