🏈 No. 3 Penn State football hosts No. 4 Ohio State this week, with both ESPN’s College GameDay and FOX Big Noon Kickoff in town.

  • Penn State meets Ohio State for the 40th time in program history. Penn State trails 25-14 in the all-time series. Seventeen of the 40 previous matchups have been decided by one possession. In 2023, Penn State fell 20-12 in Columbus. Drew Allar threw for 191 yards and a touchdown, while Alex Felkins hit two 40+ yard field goals. Abdul Carter and Curtis Jacobs tied for the team lead with nine tackles, while Johnny Dixon had two tackles for loss and a sack. 

  • Penn State is off to a 7-0 start for the 20th time in program history and the third time under James Franklin (2017, 2019). The Nittany Lions are also 4-0 to start Big Ten play for the eighth time in school history and third time under Franklin (2017, 2019).

  • Ohio State is 6-1 this season, including a 3-1 mark in Big Ten play. Last Saturday, the Buckeyes earned a 21-17 win over Nebraska. Will Howard threw for 221 yards and three touchdowns, while Carnell Tate had 102 receiving yards, including a 40-yard score. Jeremiah Smith added a 60-yard touchdown grab. Ohio State tallied 13 tackles for loss and three sacks.

🔺 Baker’s Dozen. No. 3 Penn State women’s volleyball extended its win streak to 13 matches on Wednesday, sweeping Michigan to improve to 11-0 in Big Ten competition.

Jess Mruzik led the way with 11 kills, with Camryn Hannah right behind with 10.

🔺 Tournament Time. No. 10 seed Penn State women’s soccer kicks off Big Ten Tournament play today, playing No. 7 seed Minnesota at 7:30 p.m. in the Twin Cities.

The Gophers finished the regular season three points ahead of the Nittany Lions in the Big Ten standings with 20 total points.

🔺 Conference Clash. No. 12 Penn State women’s hockey opens up its inaugural Atlantic Hockey Association season today, hosting Syracuse at 6 p.m. at Pegula Ice Arena.

The Orange, who joined the AHA from the CHA along with the Nittany Lions, are 2-7 this season. Penn State was 3-1 against Syracuse a season ago.

🔺 On An Honor Roll. Penn State men’s basketball guard Ace Baldwin Jr. has been named to the 2024-25 Jersey Mike’s Naismith Trophy Men’s College Player of the Year Watch List!

The Naismith National Player of the Year Watch List adds to Baldwin Jr.’s growing list of preseason honors that also includes landing on the Bob Cousy Point Guard of the Year Top 20 Preseason Watch List and being named a Preseason All-Big Ten selection.
