🔺 Frozen Firepower. No. 12 Penn State women’s hockey went 2-0 at the East West Showcase in Minneapolis over the weekend, scoring a combined 12 goals in its wins over Bemidji State and No. 3 Minnesota.

Down 3-1 to Bemidji State on Friday, the Nittany Lions scored four unanswered goals between the second and third periods to earn their first lead, and would go on to win, 6-4.

Penn State was even more dominant in its first-ever win against the No. 3 Gophers, scoring four first-period goals in a 6-2 win to move to 17-4-1 on the season.

🔺 Win The Weekend. Penn State men’s hockey traveled around the Midwest playing Notre Dame this weekend, first skating with the Irish at Wrigley Field on Friday before moving to South Bend on Sunday.

The Nittany Lions played Notre Dame to a draw at the friendly confines, before winning 3-0 on Sunday thanks to two goals from Charlie Cerrato, one from Danny Dzhaniyev and 34 saves from Arsenii Sergeev.

🔺 Fought Back. Penn State men’s basketball turned a 16-point second-half deficit against Indiana to just two points on Sunday at the Palestra, but wasn’t able to complete the comeback attempt with the Hoosiers winning, 77-71.

Nick Kern led the Nittany Lions in scoring off the bench with 21 points, followed by Ace Baldwin Jr. (12 points) and Freddie Dilione V (11 points).

🔺 Road Test. Penn State women’s basketball fought back and forth at Nebraska on Sunday, tying the game in the fourth quarter despite trailing by 13 heading into the final period, but fell to the Cornhuskers, 72-61.

Alli Campbell led all scorers with 19 points, and was joined in double figures by Gabby Elliott (14 points).

🔺 Off And Running. No. 21 Penn State women’s gymnastics made history on Sunday, scoring its highest score ever in a home season opener with a 195.775 in victories over New Hampshire and Penn.

The mark is the Nittany Lions’ highest in an overall season-opening meet since it scored a 195.775 in 2012. The group remains undefeated against their in-state foe, moving to 11-0 against Penn, while earning their 29th all-time win against New Hampshire, compared to just five losses.
